Treasures in the Sand

‘Jimmy Buffett / Tacky Tourist’

September 5 & 6, 2025

Our 16th annual Treasures in the Sand was held September 5 & 6, 2025 at Sudbury Beach in Penticton, BC on beautiful Skaha Lake.

This year’s theme was “JIMMY BUFFETT / TACKY TOURIST”.

The Friday night hunt saw 39 participants, and a total of 68 participants for the all day Saturday hunts. Thank you to our MC for the day, club Treasurer, Syd Birch. Big thank you also to all club members and participants for making this years hunt a great success.

The proceeds of this years donation from the WestJet raffle tickets, which totaled $6,680.00, went to Osoyoos Desert Centre. Their mission is to inspire curiosity, understanding and active concern for healthy ecosystems through education, conservation, research and community leadership. Osoyoos Desert Society is a nonprofit charitable organization founded in 1991 to conserve the rich, biologically diverse habitats of British Columbia’s southern interior. In 1999, as part of its education and advocacy efforts in support of the south Okanagan’s natural spaces and species, the Society opened a nature interpretive facility – the Osoyoos Desert Centre.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the individual and corporate contributors. We appreciate your generosity and could not have put on such a successful hunt without you.

The winner of the WestJet “Gift of Flight” tickets was Ken and Carol Hebb. Congratulations!

Winner of the major prize from the Friday night hunt was: Ed Heilman – Fisher Pinpointer

The major prize winners from the Saturday hunt were:

Steve Decook – Fisher F44
Duncan Bell – Minelab Go Find 22 and Pro Find Pin Pointer
Tracy Woods – Garrett Vortex VX9
Clay Soliday – XP ORX

Thanks, again, to all who came out and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
