Treasures in the Sand
‘Vegas Theme’
September 11 & 12, 2026
Our 17th annual Treasures in the Sand was held September 11 & 12, 2026 at Sudbury Beach in Penticton, BC on beautiful Skaha Lake.
This year’s theme was “LAS VEGAS”.
The Friday night hunt saw 37 participants, and a total of 55 participants for the all day Saturday hunt. Thank you to our MC for the day, club Treasurer, Syd Birch. Big thank you also to all club members and participants for making this years hunt a great success.
The proceeds of this years donation from the WestJet raffle tickets, which totaled $5,555.00, went to The Penticton Seniors’ Drop In Centre Society. They are a community-funded, volunteer-powered, public access, non-profit drop-in centre in Penticton. Membership is available to anyone 50+ and many of their engaging activities and events are open to non-members in the wider community. They offer everything from yoga classes to computer skills training, from line dancing to ukulele lessons and much more! Through their many stimulating social events, recreational activities and volunteer opportunities, they reduce isolation, cultivate connections and increase capacity and purpose in the lives of the seniors in their community. 100% of the activities and events at The Centre are organized and delivered by volunteers of all ages!
We were pleased to announce that Gold Detectors Canada had joined Treasures in the Sand 2026 as a sponsor and had generously donated product for our main hunt. They had a merchandise display, and held a raffle for several items. Gold Detectors Canada is a Minelab authorized dealer and exclusive authorized dealer in Canada for OKM Germany.
We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the individual and corporate contributors. We appreciate your generosity and could not have put on such a successful hunt without you.
The winner of the WestJet “Gift of Flight” tickets was Leah Morey. Congratulations!
Winner of the major prize from the Friday night hunt was: Sarah Preston – XP Pinpointer
The major prize winners from the Saturday hunt were:
